As continuation of the SWG FAO project: ”Streamlining of agriculture and rural development policies of SEE countries for EU accession”, the SWG started project:” Analysis of the agricultural and rural development policies in Western Balkan countries” funded by the European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC) – Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS).
The aim of the project is to provide up to date analysis of the characteristics of the agriculture policy instruments applied in Western Balkan (WB) countries and highlight the possible effects of agriculture and rural development policies harmonization of the WB countries with the CAP 2014-2020 on food and farming sector in the rural areas.
The main objectives of the study are:
- Analyze the impact of the national agriculture and rural development policies of Western Balkan countries and provide recommendations for their compliance with agriculture and rural development related policies of the EU;
- Provide a cross-country analysis of the national policy instruments and their effects on food/ farming sector on WB rural areas;
- Provide an analysis on the state of harmonization of agriculture and rural development policies of the Western Balkan countries with the CAP 2014-2020 on food/ farming sector.
Analysis of the agriculture and rural development policies will be done on a country by country basis by the National experts for agriculture and rural development policy analysis and coordinated by the team of International Experts.
Kick –off meeting with participation of the project team, both international and national experts, as well as management team has been held in Skopje in the period 19-20 March 2015.
The aim of the meeting was agreement on the tasks and responsibilities, coordination of the project team and start – up of the analytical work to be done.
