
The meeting took place as a hybrid event on 10 February 2022 in Skopje, North Macedonia as part of the project “Comparative analysis of agricultural sectors and rural areas in the pre-accession countries: agricultural policy developments, situation of the agri-food sector and economic context”. It gathered national, regional and international experts and representatives from relevant authorities from the Western Balkans, Turkey and EU to discuss and agree upon a methodology for assessing latest agricultural policy developments in the pre-accession countries and their approximation to the CAP.
Here are more details about the overall project:
Main aim: to gain knowledge on the state of development of the agri-food sector in the Western Balkans and Turkey as well as on the approximation of agriculture and rural development policies with the CAP, in order to be able to better design the instrument for the application of pre-accession assistance for rural development (IPARD) in each of the pre-accession countries.
Specific objectives:
Analyses of agricultural policy developments in the WB countries, and to the extent possible in Turkey.
Comparative analysis of the competitiveness of the agro-food sector at sectoral and macro levels in the WB countries and in Turkey and their comparison with the EU (i.e. selected individual member states and EU averages).
